Member Services
Aged Care Queensland welcomes new members to the Association. Organisations can join with hundreds of other services for older Queenslanders by becoming a member.
- Membership is open to all operators of care or accommodation services for aged or disabled people. Nursing homes, hostels, retirement villages, aged rental accommodation providers, community care services, respite centres, therapy centres are all eligible for separate membership. Membership is not open to individuals at this point in time but an organisation/facility is welcome. Membership fees are calculated on the basis of the number and type of services operated.

Information
- Weekly Newsfax emailed to as many member services and their staff as required – providing updates on government information, policy, service directions, contracts; education opportunities; other industry updates and newsworthy articles
- Monthly magazine ACQ-Wire, with relevant articles, information and advice
- Yearly reference book 'The Resource Guide' providing details of all staff, association committees, industry partners, corporate subscribers and relevant products and services
- Website with extensive 'members only' information pages and links to member sites, government and other updates
- Regular regional meetings in 12 regions throughout Queensland
- Annual ACQ State Conference, Community Care Conference, Retirement Living Conference and joint NIMAC Conference to provide vision, information and networking
- Provision of regular workshops such as the residential Hot Topics workshops and the Contemporary Community care workshops - to inform, generate discussion and provide networking opportunities for members
- Developing and managing a series of specialist working groups including:
Community Options State-wide Network; Day Therapy State-wide Network; Research Sub Group; Innovative Pool/Retirement Village package Pilot Network Group; Community Care Packages Group; Infection Control Working Group; ACFI Working Group; Aged Care Rental and Housing Network Group; Local Government Auspice Services Network Group; Accreditation and Regulatory Compliance Group; Sustainability Interest Group; Workforce Issues Interest Groups; Review of RV Act Working Group;Review of CRF and MRF Guidelines Working Group; to provide expert input, provide information and facilitate discussion of major issues
Representation & Advocacy
- Representation of residential care, retirement living and community care providers in State, National and local forums on issues of significance to the industry and providers. This includes general representation, policy influence, industrial relations representation, and industry/provider promotion
- Representation of individual ACQ members on issues causing concern, conflict or difficulty, including difficulties with governments, statutory bodies, client advocates etc. This may be done anonymously or with the identity of the member known
- Industry policy development and promotion of these policies aimed at improved client outcomes and better viability for providers
- Participation in numerous Government working parties, committees and partnerships on behalf of providers in the aged care, community care and retirement living industry
- Political lobbying for outcomes sought by providers in the industry
- Media response on behalf of providers and promotion of industry positions and positive image
- Participation in the development of national industry policy positions, directly and through ACSA and ACAA
- Representing providers (generally or individually) in funding round planning and submissions, and supporting members in development of submissions and with endorsements
Marketing Opportunities
- Dealing with enquiries from the public, provision of industry information, member services and contacts and referrals to members
- Providing advertising and promotional opportunities through the various ACQ publications and events
- Facilitating strategic partnerships between various members to make unique skills available to others on mutually beneficial terms
- Assisting members with commercialisation of skills, products and services
Networking
- Providing a network of committees aimed at influencing policy and service directions, and giving members opportunities to participate in those endeavours
- Providing a network of regional meetings, service stream committees, conferences, seminars and workshops which enables extensive networking and sharing between members and with ACQ staff
- Facilitating partnerships between members and members or members and industry partners for support, assistance and a win/win for service provision
- Providing co-operative support networks of aged care and community care providers who provide services to specific client groups, such as clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and indigenous clients
- Provision of the specialist groups as described under 'Information' above which also provide networking and benchmarking opportunities for members
- Providing national networking opportunities with interstate providers through ACQ’s affiliation with ACSA and ACAA and the associated conferences and national committee networks
- Involvement in the National Community Care Coalition and initiating the Queensland Community Care Coalition
Savings
- Enabling discounted rates for services (including insurance, award information service, legislation update service etc)
- Providing discounted member rates for all conferences, workshops and training
Support
- Support members through media releases, comment, and assistance with dealing with media
- Providing consulting services and advice to members on request, covering the whole spectrum of industry services and related industrial relations issues
- Providing support through an extensive array of training courses, seminars, training partnerships and traineeships
- Facilitating opportunities for involvement in research
- Access to the full range of ACSA and ACAA services and support through affiliation with these national bodies
Resource Development
- Developing resources for members (e.g. Brokerage agreements, Common Application, CACP Agreement, CACP Operational Manual, RV Accreditation Manual, RV Accreditation Application)
- Development of, or substantial input into resources such as In Their Homes/Shoes manuals; Vision for Community Care
