New Legal Workshops!
The ACQ Education Institute, in conjunction with Hynes Lawyers, is now offering brand new workshops focused around legal issues in Residential and Community Care, and Retirement Living. These workshops are designed to deliver “all you need to know” in your specific sector of the Aged Care industry, and will be delivered by Julie McStay, from Hynes Lawyers. Julie is acknowledged as a leading provider of legal services to the aged care and retirement living industries in Queensland. Julie was admitted to practice in 1994. She acts for a wide range of retirement village operators and aged care providers. She provides corporate and commercial advice on the sale, purchase and operation of aged care and retirement village assets. She also acts for Aged Care Association Australia (ACAA) and Aged Care Queensland. She is a member of the Queensland Law Society Elder Law Committee and she has a Masters in Law with a major in Health law.
In 2010, Julie was engaged by ACAA to undertake a major review of the Aged Care Act and to prepare a report of proposed reforms to the Act. That report has been published and formed a significant component of ACAA’s submission to the Productivity Commission in their inquiry ‘Caring for Older Australians’. As a second part of this project, Julie has been engaged by ACAA to prepare an industry response to the Productivity Commission’s draft report, which was released on 21 January 2011.
Julie was also recently involved in drafting the submission for the Queensland Law Society on proposed amendments to the Retirement Villages Act 1999 (Qld).
