New aged care places released

Aged Care Queensland welcomed the announcement of the Aged Care Approvals Round 2010 results nearly 10 months after applications were asked for in early 2010, however, noted that there was a significant decline in the number of residential place allocations in the majority of states and territories. Nationally, two-thirds of the additional community places allocated were either Extended Aged Care at Home or Extended Aged Care at Home Dementia packages that would involve nursing care and were designed as a high-level residential care alternative.

ACQ has prepared an analysis of the regional distribution of residential care, CACP, EACH and EACHD packages in Queensland including the regional occupancy data for community packaged care recently obtained from DoHA.   

ACQ is also keen to further explore the distribution of Extra Services. Only  two organisations across three locations were successful in securing a total of 89 Extra Service Status places in the Queensland allocation for 2010.  This result appears to have been replicated across Australia, with a total of 312 ESS places allocated nationally.  ACQ would welcome any feedback regarding this low allocation to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . The Queensland Office of DoHA has also confirmed that they have reviewed their paperwork processes and are committed to distributing the correspondence as soon as physically able, either side of the Christmas closure.  Based on the large volume of correspondence being sent, the Department advises organisations to call the Queensland ACAR information line on (07) 3360 2661, if they have any concerns with the documents they have received.
